Homemade Orange Crush Sherbet churning away in my Mamaw’s old-fashion, wooden bucket-style ice cream maker on her carport is one of my all-time favorite childhood memories. My uncle and I remember being hypnotized by the machine’s churn and the science of how salt and ice magically turned liquid into such a deliciously creamy substance.

Mamaw’s two-ingredient sherbet was a summer staple and simple (oh, so simple) to make. It doesn’t require an old-fashion ice cream maker, but if you have one, dig it out!

Not an orange soda fan? You can make this with any fruit-flavored soda. Mamaw used this recipe to make grape, strawberry and lemon-lime sherbets.
